WELCOME TO KENYA!!!
In this blog I will be going over… a lot of things so buckle up and I hope you enjoy the ride! Well it’s been a minute and I am now in my last week of ministry in Kenya so this is basically just a briefing of everything that happened here so that you guys/ and gals don’t feel left out. So first of all NEW TEAMS, and here’s the best part… it’s manistry! So you all are probably thinking, “well what is Manistry Coby?” Well I’m not going to explain now but it is coming in this blog so do not fret my friends! Next in this blog I will go over just all of the awesome opportunities we got to be apart of in this country. So what are those opportunities? Well we did… a lot of stuff starting off at box 1 we did some House to House Evangelism, Baptisms, We got to preach at church, Hospital Evangelism and last but certainly not least, A Church build! We also got plenty of time to do Bible studies!! So without further ado… let’s get into it!
So first of all let’s talk about the new teams! This is gonna be pretty short but don’t worry I’m just easing you guys into the epicness that Kenya has been! So there are 5 guys (including me) that are on this Squad! Me, Brice, Michael, John, and Aaron, and we are on a team together! Our team is called Brothers United To Triumph otherwise known as B.U.T.T.(we are all a part of the body of Christ and well someone had to be the butt)
Next up it’s time to answer your question! What is Manistry? Well, Manistry is something that Adventures in Missions does with all Expedition Squads and it’s, you guessed it when a team is made of only men! We get 1 month as just the guys to do the lords work. I would like to emphasize though that the point of Manistry is not just to “let the guys get away from the women”, the whole point of Manistry is to grow us together as Men following Gods Commission for our lives.
So now that those are out of the way let us get into ministry, and what better way to do that then with testimonies from our house to house evangelism! While we were with this host we were able to experience got work in miraculous ways. For instance in this specific ministry we got to lead 2 people to Christ and witnessed the power of Jesus’ name cast out 4 demons. It has honestly been a blessing to see God move in just some absolutely amazing ways in Kenya! I would actually like to tell you all about one of the deliverances now, this might be a lot so buckle up! So it was pretty much a normal day of House To House and we walked up to this house of a mama who had been experiencing really bad headaches and a nasty cough. We went in the house and were asked to just give some words of encouragement and then pray for her, and that is what we were intending on doing, but the Lord had other plans. So, we start sharing our encouragements with her and one of my teammates (Aaron) started to talk about Gods grace, and she started coughing really really badly, keep in mind that this is not a normal wet or dry cough it’s like gagging/trying to keep it down type of cough, and it gets to the point where she has to leave the room for a second. The moment she leaves the room we know that something is up and we start praying against anything that may be causing this to happen and eventually she comes back into the room. We then continue with our encouragements to her and she is fine. So we finish our encouragements and then we ask if we can lay our hands on her while we pray and she says yes. Now typically in these situations one person prays but regarding the situation we just all start praying and I’m pretty sure all of us start rebuking the spirit of infirmity inside her and she starts shaking violently and then starts falling to the ground and we catch her, set her gently on the ground all while we are all still praying for her and then she stops moving completely so we decide to pick her up and lay her on the couch so that she is comfortable. So we pick her up and as soon as she is suspended in the are she starts saying something, but her eyes are still closed, so the few of us that are not fluent in Swahili don’t actually know what she said but then she starts trying to kick out from my grip (I’m holding her legs by the way) and so we have to set her back down and I have to hold her legs down so she doesn’t kick anyone. All the while we are are doing this she is screaming the same words over and over again and come to find out the demon in control was screaming that it did not want to come out of here. We finally got it to calm down and we found out that the demon in control his name was Commando and he had two other demons in there with him and so we commanded him and the other demons to leave, he gave us a fight but after about 30 minutes of us commanding them in the name of Jesus Christ to leave her body she again stops shaking. Then she wakes up and looks visibly terrified. We then pray over her and ask the Holy Spirit to fill the space those demons were occupying and then she thanked us and we left. That was the craziest thing I have witnessed God do to date and here’s the crazier thing, that’s not even the biggest and most powerful thing God can do!
Anyways, let’s move in lol, and next up we have the Baptisms! So we had the absolute honor of Baptizing 11 people in the name of The Father, The Son, and The Holy Spirit. All of this started because one of the members of the church we attended every week brought us to her parents house and there we were able to lead her parents to Christ. They wanted to get baptized and so they decided to do it while we were there. Now unfortunately we did not get to baptize them, because they were not able to show up the day that we did the baptisms. But we are believing in Faith that they are going to get baptized still, not because it is how you get salvation but because I could see how excited they were to get baptized. Now you’re probably wondering “where did y’all baptize the people that you did baptize?” Well the answer to that question is…. The River! It was honestly really cool and I don’t think that it would’ve been as powerful anywhere else because wow it was SO powerful!
Next up we have for ministry, Preaching at the Church we went to! We got the amazing opportunity of sharing the word, testimonies, and teaching them the biblical way of doing certain things. Now I could spend forever telling y’all every word that we said but I want to steward your time well so I’ll just tell y’all a few of the topics and then maybe a few of the points I hit on. So I did 2 teachings and they were on Time management (as requested by the pastor of the church) and then after the baptisms I spoke on what baptism actually is. The 3 main points in my baptism sermon were that 1. Baptism is a commandment from Jesus (see The Great Commission), 2. Baptism is a picture of the gospel (see Romans6:3-4), and 3. Baptism is a public declaration of your faith (see Acts 2:38-41 & Mark 1:9). That is all I’m going to share on this topic but don’t worry there is still more exciting things ahead!
Next up I want to talk about the Hospital Evangelism! This was an experience… I loved it though and wouldn’t trade it for anything else. We got to go the County Hospital in Butere and just pray over every person in there, and I mean every person. We started off in the men’s ward on the surgical side and… yeah we saw some things that personally I wish I didn’t see but you know it’s all for Gods glory! Then we moved onto the sick side prayed over each of them then went over to the women’s/ pediatric ward and prayed over all of them in there. Then they took us to pray over all of the newborn babies and their mothers, and that was awesome!
Last but not least, we get the awesome opportunity of building a church! We have not started this yet but we will be heading to the cite on Tuesday! We do leave on Thursday but any help that we can provide is help! Due to us not doing this yet I can’t give any details on it because, well I don’t know the details lol. So with that being said, that’s all I have for ministry.
Apart from all that we got to do a study on Revelation in the Bible and I LOVE Revelation so it was great!! We are still on chapter 13 but I’m excited to dig deeper in this!
With all that being said that’s all for this blog! I will be praying for each of you, and I hope you all will be doing the same for me! Have a blessed Day, Afternoon, or Evening!
