Well, it’s been a minute since I’ve written one of these but just to recap you guys and gals on what has been going on with me here is the second half of Asia, lol. So, on my route so far, I have been to Thailand, Malaysia, and I am in The Philippines right now. Malaysia was a blast, but it went by so fast, I would do anything to be back there even if it was only for a day. In this blog I’m going to reflect on everything that we did in Malaysia. The second half of this is going to take you all through all of the different type of ministries we have here in The Philippines and some stuff about Fundraising.
Malaysia
Looking back at my time in Malaysia, I am honestly filled with so much gratitude. While I was there, I was able to be a witness to some miracles, I got to see God use me and other people in ways that probably would not have happened if we were not giving him our “yes” every day. My team and I spent most of our time working with refugee kids, teaching them subjects like English, Math, Science, and Art. The way I see it the way we were teaching these kids was not out of our own knowledge and power, I witnessed my teammates in many areas come out of their comfort zones and just love these kids while teaching them things that I think honestly, we as Americans take for granted every day. Honestly, if you ask me, they were more than just lessons too, they were opportunities to speak hope, identity, and love into the kids’ hearts who’ve probably seen more hardship than many of us could even imagine. In the evenings, we would support our ministry host’s church as they were and still are doing church for 50 days straight till Pentecost, I did not attend every church service, but the lord really moved through those pastors and worship sessions. If I took anything from Malaysia, it’s that ministry is often a lot less about being in the spotlight and a lot more about just showing up consistently, faithfully, and humbly.
The Philippines
Thats enough about Malaysia though, let’s get into all of the ministry we have available in The Philippines. So here in The Philippines we are with an organization call Kids International, and our main ministry seems to be feeding people that live in the slums but there are a lot more ministry opportunities here so here I’m going to be taking you all through each ministry and just telling you what it is and what we do in it. So, kind of within the feeding ministry, we also do prison ministry which basically entails my team going to the prisons around our area and sharing testimonies, encouragement, and reminding the inmates that because of Jesus’ sacrifice, no one is too far gone. I have also been helping with construction projects here, all small projects but still helping lol. Next, I’m going to talk about Youth LAB and for starters LAB is an acronym, so no science is involved unfortunately. So, LAB stands for Loved, Accepted and Belong and they say at Youth LAB that you are loved, you are accepted, and you belong. They wanted to create a safe space for the youth where they could feel like they actually are loved by someone, and that they are accepted, and what I think is most important is that they belong somewhere so that the youth can feel like they have a purpose. within this ministry I am able to use skills from serving in the tech booth for I honestly don’t even know how long to help create the technical side of the LAB. I think that it’s such a blessing how the lord will give you skills that you don’t necessarily think will ever be useful in the mission field and then he will prove you wrong.
Fundraising!
Now to move on to fundraising, I am at 22% funded, I need to be at 40% by June 20th! I know that is a big jump, especially with how much that actually entails funding, But I have seen God do bigger things. If you personally cannot support me then maybe send this to someone who you think might be able to and of course if you can but you don’t know if it is what the lord wants you to do with your finances, then pray about it, seek the lords voice on it and if the lord doesn’t lead you to donate to me, that’s okay, and if he does then please do donate, if you need my donation link send me a message, I’ll put my contact info at the end of this so that you can reach out. I currently do have a challenge going on with this deadline specifically. If you don’t know me here is a little thing about me, I am terrified of heights. At Kids International where we are staying, they have a pool with a ledge above it that is 3 stories high. We are allowed and it is completely safe to jump from said ledge. So, that being said, if my fundraising reaches 40% by June 20th, I will do a front flip off of said ledge. I know my God can do this, can yours?
